Rear-Admiral Jan van Groesbeck hadn't slept since he had spoken with the Judge Advocate General. He knew he should follow through with his advice to advise the Fleet Admiral of his intention about leaving shortly after his appointment as Director of Starfleet Intelligence. He smiled at Marlena, "Is the Fleet Admiral in? I realized I haven't made an appointment but I was hoping to see him before his first appointment of the morning?"

"Boy are you lucky," Marlena smiled back wryly, looking up from her makeshift desk outside the CinC's hospital room/temporary office. "He's got about 10 minutes, Admiral. Let me just make sure he's got bandwidth before his meeting. Last I knew, he was reading up on some briefs." Holding up a staying hand, she moved from behind her desk to the double glass doors leading into the CinC's office. They were frosted for privacy so it wasn't until the doors opened again that Groesbeck could see the woman again. "He can see if you make it quick. Go on in," Marlena waved.

Jan van Groesbeeck nodded his head curtly, "Something I've always been good at is being short, concise and to the point. Except for the bureaucracy. Thank you Marlena.

The Intelligence Director made his way into the Commander-in-Chief's office. It was their first meeting individually. He held his composure.

"Admiral," came the Vulcan's voice in greeting. Still remanded to his hover chair, Sturnack whirred the craft across the room to meet van Groesbeck halfway. Given that he was in Doctor Cowell's tender care, the CinC was taking meetings from his Starfleet Medical accommodations. "How can I assist you?"

"Under the advice of the Judge Advocate General I wanted to get your approval on something before I depart," the South African approached holding his hand in front of his Admiralty belt, "Throughout my career as an Intelligence Officer I've cultivated some interesting relationships."

"Go on," Sturnack bowed his head in encouragement.

"During my time as Special Services Director, I returned to cultivating relationships with non-Federation assets that I found crucial to Federation Security for Starfleet Intelligence. Chief among them was my counterpart, Gul Lim. He and I have a history well before Cardassian forces departed Bajor during my time with BAJ-OT. I believe he may have actionable intelligence on not only the Romulan Embassy Bombing but perhaps even the issue presently happening in the Chalvanna System."

"I see," Sturnack replied, fingers steepled thoughtfully. "Curious that such a contact would have intelligence on both fronts. But if true, such intelligence could be very helpful to our efforts. I assume this means you will need to visit your contact personally?"

"Yes, it would require me to leave Earth to meet with the Gul. I should be gone for at least a week."

"I understand," Sturnack nodded then. "I hope that your contact is able to prove useful, Admiral. May your trip be fruitful and free of danger," the Vulcan said, gesturing to the door. "We will connect with you again once you return."

"Of course, Fleet Admiral." He nodded his head, "I'll debrief you once I've returned and gone through the intelligence. Thank you for fitting me in between your appointments I won't take up much more of your time."
