Office of the Executive (Federation Government)
The Executive Office of the Federation is made up of the President, Vice President, and various cabinet members that see to the daily needs of the Federation. Coordinating, at times, with Starfleet Command, the Office of the Executive is responsible for ensuring the safety of the Federation and seeing to the continued expansion of its member worlds.
Federation President Duly elected from candidates amongst Federation member worlds, the President of the Federation serves the public interest in all things government-related. While Starfleet Command involves itself more with the psuedo-military side of things, the Federation Government -- headed by the President -- looks out for the common, public interest of all the Federation's members.

Commander-in-Chief's Office (Starfleet Command)
Comprised of the Commander-in-Chief, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, and various aides-de-camp and administrators, the CinC's office works to coordinate all of the efforts taking place within Starfleet at large. In conjunction with the Federation government, the office of the CinC also works to ensure the needs of the Federation-at-large are met through Starfleet's psuedo-naval actions, relief aid, and the continued exploration of the galaxy.
Commander-in-Chief The Commander-in-Chief is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Starfleet Command, coordinating with the various departmental offices on an ongoing basis. The CinC reports to and coordinates with the Federation's government as well, ensuring that Starfleet remains -- as ever -- in service to the Federation's needs and ideals. This individual typically holds the rank of Fleet Admiral and has served in Starfleet for decades or more.

The DCinC regularly sits in on the same briefings and meetings as the CinC to ensure the continuity of command should they need to step into the role. This position is typically held by an officer who's achieved the rank of Admiral and has been in Starfleet for many years.

These individuals are responsible for ensuring the CinC and DCinC are well briefed on the status of all departments and ongoing operations, both at home and abroad. The Aides-de-Camp sit in on various meetings and see to the needs of their superiors as best they can. Security Detail Chief Members of the CinC's Security Detail rotate in and out to ensure absolute protection for Starfleet's CinC at all times. The Chief of the Security Detail primarily attends the CinC at all major functions, coordinating additional members of the detail for support operations and coverage during meetings and other everyday affairs. Security Detail Officers Members of the CinC's Security Detail rotate in and out to ensure absolute protection for Starfleet's CinC at all times. These officers and their CinC coverage schedules are coordinated by the Security Detail Chief. -

Chief of Staff's Office (Starfleet Command)
The Chief of Staff's office serves as the primary go-between for the Commander-in-Chief's office and the various departmental operations that make up Starfleet Command. The Chief of Staff's office is responsible for the acquisition and placement of key figures within Starfleet Command as well as coordinating meetings between said figures and the Commander-in-Chief.
Chief of Staff The Chief of Staff acts as one of the CinC's chief advisers and, as such, sits in on most meetings between the CinC and Starfleet's various division heads. It's the Chief of Staff's job to ask the hard moral questions and isolate the CinC from the unnecessary chaff of daily operations. The Chief of Staff also oversees the acquisition, placement, and management of talent in key positions within Starfleet Command.

Federation Council (Federation Government)
Made up of representatives from all of the Federation's member worlds, the Federation Council brings and deliberates the very real needs of its parent planets. Governance across a gestalt as large as the Federation isn't easy and it'll take every representative voice to ensure the life, liberty, and happiness of those who call the Federation home.
Member-world Representatives The Federation Council is compromised of representatives from each of the Federation's member worlds. Each representative brings the challenges and needs of its parent planet to the Council for deliberation and decree. Representatives are often chosen to serve for a number of years but member worlds retain the right to change their representatives at any time. Administrative Aides The various Federation member-world representatives rely on their administrative aides to assist in various research and outreach efforts. These aides often attend meetings and Federation Council sessions with their representative to assist as needed. -

Proprietors of drinking establishments and their safe, social spaces are essential components of well-lubricated governmental machines like Starfleet Command. Running breweries, wine bars, and even not-so-run-of-the-mill neighborhood taverns, Bar Proprietors are dedicated public servants who keep the ever-moving wheels of society turning. Federation Diplomatic Corps (Federation Government)
Various Ambassadors and their staffers are needed to negotiate between worlds and interstellar nation-states when matters get tough. Whether its securing peace between warring worlds or opening talks for entry into the Federation, members of the Federation Diplomatic Corps are the grease that keeps the wheels of progress turning smoothly. Without them, the Federation would eventually collapse in on itself.
Federation Ambassadors As official diplomatic representatives, Diplomatic Corps Ambassadors represent the Federation in dealings with member-worlds as well as foreign regional powers. Ambassadors handle the boots-on-the-ground dealings between the Federation and the planet or power they've been assigned, often traveling with their aides as guests on Starfleet vessels, which ferry them back and forth between Earth and outbound locales. Administrative Aides Federation Ambassadors require assistance from experienced administrative assistants. These individuals assist in coordinating with the various offices and powers their assigned Ambassadors regularly interact with. They often serve as personal aides, helping their Ambassadors to manage their schedule and communicate externally as needed. -
Communications Office (Starfleet Command)
From routine remarks to thunderous oratory, the Communications Office is responsible for helping Starfleet Command get its message out. Under the leadership of the Communications Director, these efforts take the form of speeches written for SFC dignitaries or via public releases from the Press Secretary. Whenever possible, the Communications Office strives to make Starfleet Command as transparent as it can be, though not everything can be for public consumption...
Communications Director The Communications Director is responsible for developing and promoting the agenda of the Commander-in-Chief and leading any associated media campaigns. The Director -- along with their staff -- works on major political speeches to be given by the CinC and the DCinC. The Director also manages the external perception of Starfleet Command by overseeing the efforts of the Press Secretary, who handles relations between SFC and the press. Given the role's nature, the Director often attends many of the same meetings and briefings as the CinC, DCinC, and the Chief of Staff.

General Speech Writers While the Communications Director and Deputy Director are largely responsible for crafting the speeches made by the CinC and DCinC, the Communications Office also employs a pool of general speechwriters to assist in writing remarks for other, less important occasions. For instance, General Speech Writers often work on thank you notes, celebratory remarks, and other minor messages that come from the CinC's office. Press Secretary The Press Secretary is responsible for handling all relations with the press. This usually takes the form of a daily briefing, wherein the Press Secretary passes on any important news or comments about the activities of Starfleet Command. The Press Secretary also often meets with various reporters and representatives from the many Federation news outlets to discuss concerns in access and fair reporting. In conjunction with the Communications Director, the Press Secretary also handles the issuance (and possible removal) of press credentials to various news outlets. Due to the nature of the role, the Press Secretary often sits in on many high-level meetings where matters of public perception could present a concern. Deputy Press Secretary The Deputy Press Secretary assists the Press Secretary in handling all relations with the press. This can sometimes take the form of leading press briefings when the Press Secretary is not available. Strategic Command (Starfleet Command)
This department is primarily responsible for coordinating military efforts both in times of war and peace. When Federation member worlds are threatened, it is Strategic Command that evaluates these threats and brainstorms how to address them. Many day-to-day decisions are made by Strategic Command itself, though especially challenging situations are normally brought to the Commander-in-Chief for review and input prior to any decision making.
Director of Strategic Command The Director of Strategic Command heads up a group of admirals tasked with the day-to-day, military-focused deployments of Starfleet vessels throughout the Federation and beyond. The Director also serves as the primary military adviser to the Commander-in-Chief, bringing particularly challenging or concerning matters to the CinC for further deliberation and decision making. The nature of this role demands that the Director sit in on any high-level meetings where the possibility of a military presence or response might be necessary.

Charged with the protection of Earth from all threats foreign and domestic, Homeworld Security keeps a watchful eye out for potential sources of attack or destabilization. Through the use of assigned starships and security-focused ground forces, Homeland Security ensures all threats to Earth are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
Director of Homeworld Security Earth is not always the paradise of safety it might seem from afar -- it takes work to make it so. The Director of Homeworld Security plays an extremely vital role in this, overseeing a group of admirals tasked with the monitoring and dispatching of threats to the seat of the Federation's government. The Director also serves as counsel to the Commander-in-Chief on these matters, ensuring the CinC is aware of major threats and involved in the decision making of how to handle them. The Director of Homeworld Security sits in on all high-level meetings where the security of Earth might be involved.

The Department of Starfleet Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management of fleet resources throughout the Federation and beyond. Whether dispatching vessels for routine scientific survey missions or sending ships to ferry VIPs to and fro, Starfleet Operations oversees all logistical needs where ships, facilities, and material are concerned. Starfleet Operations also houses additional sub-divisions (such as the Starfleet Corps of Engineers) and ensures said departments have the resources and means needed to complete their work.
Director of Starfleet Operations As head of Starfleet Operations, the Director is responsible for overseeing the totality of the department's activities. In conjunction with other administrative staff, the Director is responsible for highlighting and green-lighting needed missions that involve moving around personnel, ships, and other material. The Director is also tasked with being on top of all fleet resources and sitting in on high-level meetings where their use would be a factor.

Research and Development (Starfleet Command)
New breakthroughs in weapons tech and means of interstellar travel don't just happen by themselves. It takes a dedicated department of scientists, researchers, and administrators to make the magic of progress happen. Often working in conjunction with the Daystrom Institute -- a civilian organization with a similar aim -- R&D strives to provide Starfleet and the Federation at large with new technologies with which to supply and defend itself.
Director of Research and Development The Director of Research and Development is responsible for overseeing the innovative efforts of scientists, engineers, and other specialists who assist in the creation of new technologies for Starfleet to employ. Whether its a new type of propulsion system or a prototype of a new sensor array, these technologies are imagined, created, tested, and fully vetted before approval for deployment throughout the fleet at large. As such, the Director represents the department in all high-level meetings where R&D's perspective and potential could be harnessed.

Starfleet Intelligence (Starfleet Command)
Through its extensive network of highly trained operatives, Starfleet Intelligence is able to procure sensitive information about the foreign powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Whether it's the rumblings of war or efforts to destabilize the Federation itself, Starfleet Intelligence plays a huge role in subverting threats before they become full-blown.
Director of Starfleet Intelligence The Director of Starfleet Intelligence oversees the department's efforts in the collection of intelligence through humanoid sources and by other approved and appropriate technological means. Whether its the assignment of intelligence operatives into deep cover or approving the deployment of new surveillance technologies, the Director ensures that Starfleet Intelligence collects vital information without violating the rights of Federation citizens. The Director also oversees intelligence assignments involving other galactic powers, ensuring the data collected by such operatives is passed along to the Commander-in-Chief as needed. Given the nature of this role, the Director of Starfleet Intelligence often sits in on many of the high-level meetings attended by the CinC.

As such, the Deputy Director is heavily involved in the overall coordination of the department's efforts. This officer may also be asked to represent the Director at various meetings when unavailable to attend. As Deputy Director, this individual is also responsible for helping to coordinate the various deployments of intelligence-related assets. Branch Directors Branch Directors are assigned at the Director's discretion and oversee the various interdepartmental functions of Starfleet Intelligence's assets. These officers represent their internal department at Starfleet Intelligence briefings and meetings, ensuring that the Director and Deputy Director are fully up-to-speed on the activities of Starfleet Intelligence's actions. Intelligence Officers Intelligence Officers are tasked with intelligence gathering efforts, either through technological means or by infiltrating external agencies via personal espionage. These officers are responsible for reporting the findings of their intelligence-gathering efforts up the chain, so that Branch Directors and the Director and Deputy Director can act on the acquired information. These individuals assist in coordinating with the various operational divisions of Starfleet Command, setting up meetings and briefings as needed. Department of Interstellar Aid (Starfleet Command)
It isn't enough for the Federation to look after its own. Part of being a superpower is also knowing when to be a good neighbor. Via the Department of Interstellar Aid, Starfleet is able to mount and launch missions to provide disaster relief aid and help other planets to beef up their infrastructure. This department uses the vast resources of the Federation to provide help to member worlds and even come to the rescue of planets outside of the Federation.
Director of Interstellar Aid The Director of Interstellar Aid oversees the department's efforts to provide economic and technological relief to struggling member-worlds and external powers. This aid often takes the form of vital foodstuffs, industrial replication technology, temporary housing units, and -- in conjunction with Starfleet Medical -- essential medicines and medical personnel to help battle medical emergencies on a large scale. The Director sits in on all high-level meetings where interstellar aid may be a concern.

Starfleet Academy (Starfleet Command)
Responsible for the training of Starfleet's newest recruits, Starfleet Academy is the proving ground for the next generation of enlisted personnel and commissioned officers. The learners who pass through the Academy's halls will one day go on to serve as engineers, doctors, tactical officers, Captains, and beyond! But it'll take dedicated instructors and support personnel to ensure Starfleet's future.
Academy Commandant As head of Starfleet Academy, the Commandant is responsible for overseeing the training of Starfleet's next generation of officers and enlisted personnel. In conjunction with other Academy administrative staff, the Commandant ensures that all aspects of the Academy's functional needs are met. This takes the form of overseeing the development of curricula, managing the pool of available instructors and their class assignments, and ensuring that the Academy grounds themselves are as pristine as possible. The Commandant is also responsible for regularly updating Starfleet Command on all necessary, Academy-related matters as needed.

As such, the Deputy Commandant sits in on many of the same meetings and is always fully briefed on matters large and small. In addition, the Deputy Commandant often observes instructors as they teach, offering feedback and perspective to help them grow. Academy Instructors Masters of the hallowed halls of Starfleet Academy, Instructors are exceptional officers and enlisted personnel who've been invited back to pass on their knowledge and skills to Starfleet's newest recruits. Instructors teach all manner of classes, including topics like Astrophysics, Advanced Engineering Principles, Specialty Security Tactics, etc. Instructors normally hold a lecture or two a week for audiences of 50 or more, then meet with students both individually and in small seminars to coordinate further work. Judge Advocate General (Starfleet Command)
The Judge Advocate General serves primarily to help Starfleet Command navigate the finer points of Federation law, both at home and abroad. The Judge Advocate General also handles court martial proceedings for Starfleet personnel. Serving under the Judge Advocate General, Advocates provide legal advice and counsel for those in need of Starfleet-related representation or perspective. Advocates rely heavily on administrative aides to assist in the research of precedent and legality prior to meeting with their assigned clients.
Judge Advocate General As Starfleet's chief legal officer, the Judge Advocate General serves as one of the primary advisers to the Commander-in-Chief, giving advice on all matters where Federation legality could come into question. The JAG also oversees all matters of import within the Department of Justice, including court-martial proceedings and the assignment of DoJ Advocates to serve as official counsel and informal advisers to Starfleet personnel.

As such, the Deputy JAG sits in on many of the same meetings and briefings as the Judge Advocate General, ensuring they are fully informed at all times. The Deputy JAG is also directly responsible for routinely auditing advocates' cases and even observing them perform their legal representation duties. Advocates Advocates serve as legal counsel and representation for Starfleet personnel. Whether representing Starfleet officers at court martials or providing a legal defense when personnel have broken laws on member-worlds and beyond, these dedicated officers are concerned with getting to the truth and ensuring justice for all. Starfleet Medical (Starfleet Command)
Starfleet Medical is the medical branch of Starfleet dedicated to biological research and the treatment of Starfleet personnel. Starfleet Medical oversees all Starfleet medical personnel, coordinating the assignment of doctors, nurses, and other medical support staff to the various starships and facilities within Starfleet's purview. This department also assists the Department of Interstellar Aid in mobilizing medical personnel to Federation member-worlds and neighboring powers when medical emergencies on a large scale arise.
Surgeon General, Director of Starfleet Medical As head of Starfleet Medical, the Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the division's operations. In conjunction with other administrative staff, the Director manages the deployment of Starfleet Medical's resources, be they in the form of medical personnel, hospital ships, or infirmary facilities on Federation installations. The Director sits in on all high-level meetings where the resources of Starfleet Medical may need to be deployed.
