Character Information

Gender Female
Species Human
Age 38

Physical Appearance

Height 5' 9''
Weight 180
Hair Color Red
Eye Color Blue-green
Physical Description If people don’t remember Jocelyn’s face because of her red hair it is because of the unusual regular use of reading glasses either in place, or pushed up onto her head. Her blue-green eyes top off the features that are most commonly noted by those who have only just met her. Jocelyn has an hourglass figure, which can give the impression of not being as well muscled as she is in reality. It’s something she is aware of and somewhat self conscious about as a Starfleet officer. Her hair is long, but often pulled back into a bun. It is not uncommon to find a stylus stuck through the back of her bun holding her hair in place. Although her eyesight is sufficient to meet the minimum requirements for Starfleet entrance examinations and yearly physicals, she prefers to wear reading glasses to correct some minor nearsightedness rather than undergo surgical correction. Her reading glasses are a particularly interesting piece of technology -- giving the appearance of typical plastic frames a quick tap to the left joint changes the color of the frame. Jocelyn delights in changing the color depending on her mood; a bit like a personal mood ring.

(Spoiler alert: Jocelyn loves a good French Press with a solid pour of cream and three sugar cubes. But if it's well made she'll take a freshly brewed cup any way you offer it.)

Personal History Jocelyn grew up in Lakeside, PA (about 35 miles north of Scranton). Her father was a high school history teacher and her mother a geologist. Their home is located on Page Lake in Lakeside. As a child Jocelyn fell in love with words and she would regularly be found making up stories and relaying them to anyone who would listen. If she wasn't telling the stories she was writing them down in one of many notebooks that she accumulated over the years. Many of her stories featured traveling among the stars and worlds she had only read about. When she wasn’t telling stories she was found swimming in the lake, reading books, and soaking up sun on her parents’ dock.

When she graduated high school she was torn between writing and exploring. After years making up stories about far away paces she dearly wanted to experience some so she shelved her story telling in favor of enlisting in Starfleet. Once she entered the Academy it became evident that she wouldn't have to give up writing altogether and she took up reporting and editorial writing for the Academy's newspaper.
